The customer had squirrels in the attic.
Solutions provided:
Seal open gap at top part of the chimney with stainless steel screen to prevent entry of animals into the attic space. Install white sheet metal on the trim board on the sides of the metal change cap to prevent entry of animals. Remove screws from the ridge vent and caulk the holes to seal. Install stainless steel screen on the ends to cap and prevent entry of squirrels.
